So far since September we've raised a great amount of money for the local communities and projects KOP works with in Kisumu. We've done bucket collections at Coventry train station and in Birmingham city centre. At the Warwick MedSoc summer ball we raised lots of money playing games and having a great raffle. Then in February we pulled off (probably!) the greatest cake sale Warwick medical school has ever seen, raising £130 feeding up hungry 1st years. Added to that, Erica took part in the Bath half marathon and Mike has recently taken part in a triathlon! It is not too late to donate for any of the events KOP members have taken part in, just head to our justgiving page. http://www.justgiving.com/kopwarwick2011
Past Events of 2010
To reach our target of raising £3000 for VIMA, we have come up with all sorts of amazing and wonderful ideas! Here is what we have been up to so far!
Bucket shaking at Coventry Train Station
Katie collecting money in scrubs!
We went and collected money at Coventry Train Station, dresed in all our KOP gear, scrubs, complete with stethoscopes!
Many thanks to the people at Coventry Train Station on Wednesday 21st April, Tuesday 11th May and Saturday 15th May who kindly donated to KOP!
Also a massive thank you to all the staff at Coventry Train Station, for kindly letting us collecting money at the station!
KOP's Breakfast sales!
Gone are the days of lie-ins and turning up for one lecture at 1 pm then going home again... Especially Tuesdays, when we all have to start at 8 am on the dot! So KOP Warwick thought we'd help out by holding a BIG Breakfast Sale so everybody could get that extra ten minutes' in bed! Both the breakfast sales that we held were very successful, expecially the toasted-on-the-spot bagels and Katie W and Victoria's amazing muffins!
Many thanks to everybody who contributed, we couldn't have done it without you!
Our 'Guess the Lecturer' photo competition is now finished!
On the last Thursday of Semester 2, we announced the winner of the photo competition. After a nail-biting tie-breaker, where our finalists had to guess the identity of the lecturers in three previously unseen photos, there emerged a clear winner! Congratulations to Jenna and we hope that you enjoy your coffees and cakes at Gibbet Hill Cafe! All photos are now up on the noticeboard next to Mick's office in the MTC, with the answers.
Many thanks to everybody who took part! We would also like to say a big thank you to Gibbet Hill Cafe for donating the prize of £20 vouchers!
